Women's Ministries

Episcopal Church Women: All women of the parish are members of the ECW. The ECW board sponsors the Holiday Bazaar to fund its various outreach and in-reach ministries. ECW supports the various women's groups at St. John's and numerous outreach programs, especially those geared to women and children.

There are three active guilds of the ECW, each comprising slightly different membership with some overlap: St. Margaret's, St. Teresa's and St. Martha's:

  • Recently St. Margaret's has become active again. This group has traditionally been comprised of women with young children. St. Margaret's meets the second Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the church. The ECW provides baby-sitters. St. Margaret's often has speakers to lead discussions and provide information on issues central to child-rearing. Other times the clergy has led discussions about spirituality, discernment and general Bible-study.
  • Around the same time that St. Margaret's became active, there came an interest in revitalizing St. Teresa's. This group originally began for women who were unable to attend the guild meetings held during the week. St. Teresa's is meeting again - generally on Saturday mornings at a parishioner's home. Call the parish office for the next meeting time and location.
  • St. Martha's meets several times per year from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. St. Martha's looks to explore ways to bring our faith into focus as we find our way through life. Often speakers are brought in to offer insights to help make those endless daily decisions about how and where to devote our time and attention. St. Martha's organizes the bake table at the annual bazaar. All women of the parish and their friends are invited to join. Call the parish office for the date of the next meeting.
